Dr Joanna Gilar is founder of StoryCommons CIC, an arts and storytelling social enterprise dedicated to building inclusive, robust and sustainable community through story.
With StoryCommons she co-created the Rewilding Cinderella project, an initiative of 14 storytellers, artists and poets across the UK to weave together a radical eco-concert of wild Cinderella stories, performed on the landscape beneath the South Downs.
Joanna has a PhD in fairy tales and ecology from the University of Chichester, and is co-editor of The World Treasury of Fairy Tales and Folklore (Wellfleet Press, 2016). She is passionate about inspiring the young – and old – to discover the infinite wonder of the ordinary world, and has been developing wild storytelling rituals in England and across Europe for two decades.
