Sussex Contemporary Illustrators & Printmakers (SCIP) are a dynamic young arts charity based in Seaford, East Sussex. The organisation is passionate about advancing the arts in the local and wider community through contemporary art led exhibitions working with some of the best illustrators, designers and printmakers in the UK.
They provide free art workshops throughout the year from printmaking to lantern making, working with professional creatives inspiring the next generation of artists. Their fast growing SCIP Youth programme supports 11-18 year olds, providing them with an inclusive and safe environment to enjoy freedom of creativity, and use their own voice to shape culture in their community.
Their home, the iconic Crypt Gallery in Seaford is the base for all SCIP activities, as well as supporting the local artists community by providing a contemporary exhibition space for hire.
For Walk The Chalk, SCIP are working with the local community to create a menagerie of animals and insects inspired by the amazing array of wildlife living on the Seaford Head Nature Reserve and Cuckmere Valley. Masks, wings, headwear and more will be on offer, so come and make with the SCIP team throughout September before joining everyone for a community parade, with folklore storytellers, on the 23rd September to celebrate our amazing coastal path!
Workshop and parade place bookings can be made vis SCIP’s website and will open in June 2023.
