The People’s Music Collective

Celebrating creativity, resilience and the voice of people on a journey of mental health recovery, all through music.

People’s Music Collective – Sweet Resonance

25 minute performance

Friday 22nd September (late afternoon)

The People’s Music Collective are a band which celebrates the creativity, resilience and voice of people on a journey of mental health recovery. Through recordings and public performances, we tackle the stigma of mental ill health and celebrate the diversity, strength and creativity of our community. The band’s debut EP, UnLocked is a living record of how the PMC came together in the online ether, determined to thrive creatively in the face of multiple lockdowns. Since then, the band meet regularly in Shoreham, composing new music and encouraging new members to get involved. This performance at Walk the Chalk will showcase new music from their upcoming EP, an emotive, musical journey exploring the reflections of the human soul within the natural environment around us. Join us for a celebration of both nature and music and their magical, indescribable impact on wellbeing.

“…it’s about feeling the music, feeling the vibrations in the room, coming together as one, to create a single piece of music, of which we are all a part… For me, the feeling is powerful and exhilarating, and that couldn’t happen without connection with others in the band.” PMC band member.

The PMC is a Soundcastle music programme for mental health recovery. We create music together in Shoreham and welcome new members to join. If you would like to get involved, contact hannah@soundcastle.co.uk
