I am drawn to the coast and the hills. Walking, hearing, smelling, feeling, seeing the views. To sit on the grass amongst wildflowers, settle on pebbles or a stony seat, and pull from my pocket a pad, an ink pen or a colour pencil and sketch the lines. Then to capture the light, the colours of the sky, the sea, the tones in the pebbles, my path ahead, by splashing on watercolours from a pocket palette. Stand up again and continue my walk, drying my painting in the breeze as I go. These small sketches capture all the senses of the moment and become small artworks or big inspirations for larger pieces.
