The Hooded blacksmith is a small team of like minded friends who are committed to keeping the traditional craft of blacksmithing alive.
We trained at Plumpton Agricultural College to develop our skills and qualifications in a range of metalworking techniques. In 2020 we set up our own workshop in the ancient village of Bishopstone in East Sussex. We have since acquired a range of tools and equipment both old and modern that means we can undertake virtually any task involving metal forging and fabrication. We follow traditional techniques aided by modern technology to be able to offer a wide range of products and services.
We specialise in all aspects of metalworking from intricate jewellery making, sculptural pieces including public art commissions through to large architectural steelwork. We also offer machining, milling and welding services.
We accept a wide range of commissions and can offer a design service to meet our customer needs and guarantee that we will deliver the highest quality of work in all cases.
We are proud of our work and keen to keep alive the traditional aspects of blacksmithing and encourage visitors to our workshop. We can also offer a blacksmithing experience day so that you can learn the ancient skills for yourself!
